The Bachelor of Applied Design (Branded Fashion) will challenge both your creative and business mind – and will groom you for a world-class career as a Brand Fashion Designer, Buyer, Merchandiser or Product Developer. Having this qualification under your belt also means that you could launch your own range of garments. You graduate with a highly respected qualification, specialist design skills and a professional-calibre portfolio that opens doors. This Brand Fashion Course is different to what is currently on offer in NSW. Our course addresses a variety of clothing types across a broad spectrum of needs and traverses a wide consumer base. This course teaches students to take a generic form or a trend and rework it by customising its surface or shape so that it becomes identifiable with the brand, its image and meaning.

BUILD SKILLS AND A PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO
The Bachelor of Applied Design (Branded Fashion) focuses on the design, production and marketing of garments. You learn how to create and market a range of design solutions,and use the latest software to communicate your product design ideas.
Discover how to produce clothing designs according to project budgets and timelines, and find out how to manage the integrity and positioning of a brand. Investigate the theory behind design and marketing, evaluate communication and brand fashion strategies, and scrutinise current, present and future fashion trends. You’ll enhance your forecasting, project-management and drawing skills, and discover the difference between fashion and clothing, and brand label and designer label.
The design work you do throughout your study contributes to your professional portfolio – your passport to a serious design career.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Year 12 Applicants
- A minimum UAI of 60 or equivalent
- Portfolio and interview. Applicants need to present a well considered portfolio that displays individual talent and imagination. An applicant’s portfolio should display a high standard of technical presentation.
The folio should contain 6-10 pieces of work, with examples drawn from a range of practice, including (for example):
- Drawings, illustrations or 2D art works in various media (e.g. pencil, paint, pastel, gouache)
- Digital works that combines typography (words) and image generated in the computer
- Design work (e.g. web sites, animation, 3D environments (actual or virtual), graphic design (logos, posters, flyers, stationery)
- Personal work like photography, film making, printmaking, craft, fashion or writing
- Written statement addressing one piece of work (rationalising the process of idea generation through to realisation).
Non Year 12 applicants: 18 – 21 years of age
- Applicants will be required to provide documentation of any study undertaken (completed or not completed with the results in those unit/s and/or course/s) and a resume of work experience
- A demonstrated ability to undertake study at this level
- Portfolio and interview (as above).
Mature age applicants – aged 21 or over
- Mature age applicants (aged 21 or over) may be admitted to the degree course on the basis of their work experience, and/or other study attempted and/or completed.
- Applicants will be required to provide documentation of any study undertaken (completed or not completed with the results in those unit/s and/or course/s) and a resume of work experience.
- A demonstrated ability to undertake study at this level
- Portfolio and interview (as for Category A above).
Don’t have a portfolio? The Certificate III in Design Fundamentals is an 18-week course specially designed to help you build the skills and portfolio required for successful tertiary study in the visual arts.
LOCATION, STUDY TIMES AND START DATES
This branded fashion course is delivered in a lively, creative, and multicultural atmosphere in Sydney. The course can be completed in 3 years full-time study.
